Edited by walterp on . Posted in News In Brief

French presidential front-runner Emmanuel Macron has called for a “rebalancing” of Germany’s trade surplus. He said the Berlin government’s economic policy was hurting the eurozone. In an interview with Germany’s “Funke Media Group,” French Presidential Candidate Emmanuel Macron said Germany must come to the realization that “its economic strength in its present form is not acceptable.” The independent front-runner told the paper that Germany benefits from imbalances in the eurozone economy and has achieved very high trade surpluses. “This is neither good for their economy or for the eurozone. There must be a rebalancing,” Macron said.
