A descendant of Emperor Karl I, the last Kaiser of the Austrian-Hungarian empire that collapsed at the end of World War I, married a French woman this weekend in the Lorraine city of Nancy.
Arch Duke Christoph von Habsburg-Lothringen, 24, married 22-year old Adélaïde Drapé-Frisch of Paris, a daughter of a French diplomat. Several members of Europe’s aristocratic families attended the ceremony at the Saint-Epvre basilica.
Jean-Louis Papin, the bishop of Nancy, celebrated the wedding. Christoph von Habsburg-Lothringen ist the second son of princess Marie-Astrid of Luxemburg und Arch Duke Carl-Christian of Austria.
The Habsburg-Lothringen family has close relations with Nancy, a city in Frances’s Lorraine province. Otto von habsburg, the son of Austria’s last Emperor, married his wife Regina there. He died in July of 2011 at the age of 98.
